I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as beer, is in fact, GNU/Beer, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Beer. Beer is not an independent drink unto itself, but rather another component of a fully refreshing beverage made useful by the GNU yeast, hops utilities, and vital barley components comprising a full pint as defined by the Reinheitsgebot.

Many people drink a modified version of beer every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of beer which is widely consumed today is often called simply Beer, and many of its drinkers are unaware that it is basically the GNU/Beer mix, brewed by the GNU Brewery.

There really is a beer, and these people are drinking it, but it is just a part of the beverage they consume. Beer is the malt: the kernel of the drink. The drink is a complex system that fills your glass and satisfies your thirst; the proper full name for that system is GNU/Beer.
